All my attempts to remove this have been thwarted by the moderators.

So. How do I get rid of this? I tried to create a repository of knowledge of extremely hard to find, niche chargers and this is a dime dozen charger and it is very frustrating the moderators let this spam stand.

While I agree that it is "not asking for recommendations", I do not understand why the endurance specifications for a product do not count as "information that will lead to a product decision".

I have noticed that Stackoverflow in general doesn't have a solid base for tech support questions such as the hardware site, and the site is still in beta and to my knowledge it has been for a while. Are there ways to promote the site or ways to bring more people into the stack?

I apologize if this question isn't suitable. I am still new and learning so don't be afraid to correct me. I am just trying to promote things that I enjoy doing and it seems most sites on the SO are for DevOps or most things developer related which is awesome but I think we should incorporate other ways to draw attention to sites that aren't getting traction.

I can't see anywhere in the site scope, help or meta posts that specifically covers 'audio-visual' hardware - receivers, amps, speakers etc.

I mentioned in comments under A/V receiver that can increase the level of LFE channel mixed into front left and right channels output in case when no subwoofer is used that not only did I think it too broad, but also off-topic as being 'not connected to a computer.'

Now, of course, we're all aware that in these days of HTPC, certainly one of the things that's going to be connected to an AVR [audio-visual receiver/amp] is going to be a computer.

Does this make AVRs on topic? …and more broadly, home theatre speakers or similar peripherals?

I think not, personally. I think it's too large a Pandora's box to open. I also don't think we are ever going to be competition for such as AVForums who have had this topic covered for decades.

We have many questions on televisions; I see crossover in this as TVs can be monitors too, but only a couple of questions specifically on AVR - A/V receiver for HDMI, optical audio in and AVR + Hi-Fi speakers? which I see I've already commented on, yet remains open. [Should have been closed as too broad anyway, imo.]

The Help Center guidelines say a question can request a product recommendation or information that will lead to a product decision. Just want to confirm whether a question will be on-topic (or frame it so that it is).

I'm looking for a webcam and have operational requirements. Researching models raises questions about the various specs and options, and how they relate to my operational requirements (I need to do ABC, webcams come with features X or Y; which feature is needed for ABC?).

I'm happy to just post operational requirements and get specific product recommendations, but it would be good to understand the feature choices behind the recommendations. If someone doesn't have a good specific recommendation but can clarify the feature choices needed for my operational requirements, I can intelligently research specific models on my own. Or, if someone has settled on a compromise in features but it is adequate for their needs, understanding the choices would allow me to assess suitability for my own requirements.

Can my question include both the operation requirements and the unclear feature choices, where answers could be either a specific product or clarification of the appropriate feature choices to meet the requirements? Or should it be one or the other?

Just to add a complication, one of the listed similar questions suggested while writing this is Not Every Question Will Have a Product Recommendation. That's over 6 years old, so policies could have changed. But the gist of that thread is that only product recommendations are on-topic (suggests that information leading to a product decision either isn't on-topic, or fits only very specific cases).

As some of you may know, we recently identified a bug affecting moderator elections – and fixed it. This bug was preventing some users' election ballots (i.e. selections) from being saved in a very rare edge case:

The bug only happens in a very specific set of super unlikely circumstances: we were mistakenly checking the Id of a nomination against the Id of a user (instead of comparing UserId to UserId), and when those overlapped, that user's nomination was incorrectly marked as withdrawn. It was never caught because this situation is remarkably unlikely so we weren't able to find any issues while testing.

Because ballots were not being saved, the election also had very low turnout; the system indicated that only ~17 users had voted by the time the election was originally supposed to conclude (October 11, 2022 @ 20:00 UTC). As a result, we decided to extend the end of the voting phase of the election by 1 week.

This bug has now been fixed. Going forward, all ballots should be getting saved properly, as long as you rank the candidates by dragging them into the numbered rankings at the top of the ballot on the election page (i.e. the "1. (Drag next selection here)" area). However, that doesn't restore the previously attempted selections that weren't getting saved, so it's important that you check your ballots to make your votes will be counted.

Please go to the election page by October 18, 2022 (20:00 UTC) to ensure that you've ranked the candidates you want to vote for, and that your selections have been saved. If your ballot wasn't saved, please rank your desired candidates again. (You can change your selections at any time before the election ends.)

After you've ranked one or more candidates, your selections should be automatically saved. If they have been successfully saved, then you should see your current ranking of the candidates (in the numbered list under "Your ballot") when you reload or return to this page.

I am voting to the current moderator election here but when I modify the Ballot position event the box is saying "Selections saved" after the 5 seconds delay, if I just refresh the page, my last modification is lost.

I initially did the same and did not get the badge until Yesterday when by chance my vote has been really saved.

This is quite annoying as I do not know if my selection is really effective and time consuming if I have to redo it several times.

I am not sure if I missed some action but I scroll all the page to find if there is a button to force the save of the selection and found nothing. I assume the Ballot box is taking the votes after the 5 second delay.

I am using Google Chrome Browser from MAC OSX 10.15.7 (Catalina).

Update: steps to reproduce

After seeing the answers, I arrive to the conclusion that this is the "Undo" user which seems to have the bug.

If I clean the Ballot by removing all Jeff Schaller, after 5 sec the ballot is really empty (and saved). Now if I want to vote for "Undo", and put only him in the Ballot (position #1), after 5 seconds the ballots say "saved" but when I refresh the ballot is still empty. If I do this for Jeff Schaller, the selection is saved, but I cannot put "Undo" in the ballot in 2nd position as well.

I know this is a stupid question, but I have a raspberry pi (computer) and a minecraft server (computer). According to the help center, electronic items that interface/operate with a computer are on-topic. Would it also be on topic to ask for something that will connect to a GPIO pin on the raspberry pi which then completes the circuit so the minecraft server turns on or is that better to ask on electronics SE?

According to the help page about what's on topic, we don't allow compatibility advice. But sometimes you need that to see which hardware you will buy, and that is on topic. Should we then also mark compatibility advide on-topic?

I am a professional software developer. I also play with ESP32, Raspberry PI & the like.

I have an elderly relative, who is too far away for me to visit, and it is also difficult for family who are nearer.

I am thinking of some tele-monitoring.

I can imagine making a ring-doorbell clime with an 2 and FOSS face recognition Software for $15, so that they don't have to go to the door to see who is there.
there are FitBit clones, also about $15, which can measure heart rate (sleep, maybe temperature), and also let me know if they are mobile.

In short, I would like to find as many affordably devices as I can to remotely me=monitor a family member's health .... maybe some way of checking that pills are taken, even that he fridge or food cupboard door is opened.

However, most S.E sited have a "closed for being too broad" option. Is there any way to formulate such a Question to be on topic? The problem is that if I knew exactly what devices I wanted, then I could ask a bunch of separate questions, but I really want input for others to tell me what I haven't even considered yet.

Multiple times daily, I check in at Hardware Recommendations, and see there's an indicator telling me something is in the Review Queue for me.

Yet, when I click on it, there's nothing there.

It was suggested, before I passed 1,000 quatloos, that several of my own items were in the queue, and the red dot was indicating there were items to review, but when I looked, I was not shown your own posts. Well, now I've cleared the Review Queue, and the issue persists.

Where's the best place to report this bug?
